Montana Angler's West: May 11 Yellowstone River Fishing Report
River clarity right now is really not that good. It's not chewy with tons of sediment mixed throughout. It's more like a deep olive coloration with about 6-10 inches of visibility. Not really all that good regardless of whether or not the bugs come. The last couple of days have been cold and wet- not caddis weather. More like baetis and March Browns. Sun returning today and through the weekend. With it, this river's going to jack up again and likely quite a bit. Bugs or not, water rising fast with lessening clarity--I'd say it's pretty much done.
Hatches: Midges. Baetis March Browns Caddis? Yep. Can the fish see your fly through the goo? Hmm- good question
